Based on the Yamaha 250 engine that Minarelli owned and produced between 2002 and 2020, this new engine is expected to be included in the upcoming Fantic XE300 enduro models.
The bikes are due to hit the European market in the summer of 2023, however, while their main focus is on the track and off-road routes, there is a chance you could ride this bike from your home to the off-road tracks.
The new 300cc two-stroke engine that comes in the upcoming Fantic XE has managed to acquire Euro 5 homologation.
Minarelli has achieved this feat through the development of technology in recent years, primarily in engines.
Of course, electronically controlled injection systems in two-stroke engines are nothing new.
KTM has been doing this for years. However, the fact that Minarelli's new engine is approved for road use may mean that this engine has a lot more technology than expected.
In addition to the sophisticated electronic injection system and exhaust regulator, it's also expected that the exhaust system will be extensively redesigned in order to reduce the exhaust noise that has become associated with two-stroke engines.
