Introduced in 2011, 1199 Panigale represent the latest line in Ducati supersport/superbike family.

Following the Ducati tradition, Panigale comes as a standard 1199, 1199 S and 1199 R.

1199 S and R are equipped with better suspension and lighter Marchesini forged Y shaped rims, 1199 S comes only with Carbon fiber front mudguard and 1199 R comes with Carbon fiber components such as, cover for rear shock absorber, rear and front mudguard, heel guards and so on.

The R version also has Termignoni exhaust and Titanium connecting rods.

All three versions, Standard, S and R have the same power and torque values, the main difference is in the kerb weight and suspension components.

Also all three models have Riding Modes, Power Modes, ABS, DTC, DQS, EBC, Ride by Wire, DDA+ ready as standard equipment.

Ducati offers two even more exclusive versions of 1199 Panigale.

1199 Panigale S Tricolore offered with a tricolor paintjob, limited version.

1199 Superleggera, an ultra-exclusive motorcycle with weight savings and power output taken to extreme levels with only 500 examples being produced.

Superleggera is so over the top that it isn’t even eligible for World Superbike competition.

The Superleggera has a titanium monocoque frame, a carbon-fiber subframe and bodywork, plus a lithium-ion battery, forged magnesium wheels, and numerous titanium fasteners. Even the Öhlins suspension is ultra light, featuring a FL916 fork with machined billet-aluminum bottoms and a TTX36 shock with a titanium spring, it weigh less than the R version with about 10 hp more.

As though above said was not enough, in 2013 Ducati realised exclusively for the Brazilian market, a limited edition series of just 161 1199 Panigale to be produced, signifying the number of F1 Grand Prix raced by the Brazilian star Ayrton Senna.

The special livery colour was chosen by Ayrton Senna himself during his visit to the Ducati factory only a few weeks before his last race in Imola in 1994, and later used to produce a first series of 300 motorcycles designed to honour star in 1995.
